G.S. Precision Welcomes B.U.H.S. Teachers

Wednesday, 16 October, 2024: G.S. Precision (GSP) headquartered in Brattleboro, welcomed a day of “Teach the Teachers”, coordinated by Christy Betit, Pipelines and Pathways Program Manager, Brattleboro Development Credit Corporation and Josh Levasseur, G.S. Precision’s School of Manufacturing Technology Coordinator.

The morning was off to an early start with Christy leading 15 teachers from Brattleboro Union High school on a brisk walk up the hill from the company headquarters at 101 John Seitz Drive to the G.S. Precision School of Manufacturing Technology at 347 John Seitz Drive (approximately ¼ of a mile away).

At the GSP School, Kurt Kwader, the Lean and Continuous Improvement Lead at GSP welcomed the group into the newly renovated space. Kwader was surprised to learn not one of the teachers had previously visited GS Precision albeit located just across Interstate 91 from BUHS. “Our new leadership team at GS is shifting paradigms and welcoming all interested individuals to see our internal apprenticeship school in hopes to ignite a passion inside students that are trying to figure out their careers.”

Josh Levasseur proceeded to guide the full house of educators through the details of the GSP School that had just kicked off its 7th cohort starting 22 Aug 2024 with a full class of 16 students. The teachers were eager to learn about the partnership with Vermont State University, the two-year program details and how students could benefit from the partnership coming out of the program with ~30% of their Associate’s Degree, 10 eight-week department rotations, the practical hands on education running CNC machines, all while incurring no debt as the company fully funds each student’s participation.

The classroom presentation culminated with a walking tour of newly expanded hands on practical exercise labs both Milling (manual and CNC) side by side with the Lathe Turning (manual and CNC) areas. The event demonstrated GS Precision’s commitment to continued education, training and growth within the company and its commitment to the community with such an offering.

G.S. Precision absorbs all the costs of the two-year program for individuals that qualify and will be starting a new class August of 2026. Interested applicants should seek an application or more information from Josh Levasseur at Joshua.Levasseur@gsprecision.com or (802) 490-6365.
