Commissioner Harrington Presents to G.S. Precision’s Apprentices
Aug 18 2024
Thursday, 15 August, 2024: G.S. Precision (GSP) headquartered in Brattleboro, VT and the State of Vermont Department of Labor, demonstrated again their commitment to continued education, advanced training and certified apprenticeship programs within the G.S. Precision School of Manufacturing Technology. This beautiful afternoon had the Commissioner from the Vermont State Department of Labor, Michael Harrington and John Lynde, VP of Operations and Quality, presenting the graduates with their State recognized Apprenticeship certificates.
This afternoon culminated a two-year journey for these student/employees combining accredited college coursework, shop work rotations, and milling and lathe hands on practical exercises. This afternoons presentation was conducted in front of the next incoming class of 16 new students, the Class of 2026.
“This Apprenticeship certification will stay with you wherever you may end up hopefully here at GS Precision…”, says Commissioner Michael Harrington.
The G.S. Precision School of Manufacturing Technology was created by company founder George Schneeberger in 2013, partly out of necessity to cultivate a highly skilled workforce and partly out of a lifelong dream to create a school for his employees. That dream has been fully realized most recently with a major overhaul of the program’s facilities, instructors, equipment and tooling. Most notably, Vermont State Governor Phil Scott announced at a live press conference at the school the official national accreditation of an apprenticeship program.
“We are extremely proud of the accomplishments of each individual within the Class of 2024 and are looking forward to getting underway with our newest cohort Class of 2026 starting classes 26 Aug 2024….” shares Kurt Kwader, GSP’s Lean and Continuous Improvement Lead who oversees the school.
G.S. Precision absorbs all the costs of the two-year program for individuals that qualify and will be accepting application for the next class starting August of 2026, as this year is at maximum capacity with a waiting list.
